The tides were turning swiftly, but none more so than the debut of Riyoko Ikeda's masterpiece, The Rose of Versailles. In the year 1971, shoujo manga was beginning to get popular, with many new mangaka, many of them being women, changing the comic industry in Japan by writing stories aimed at women. Yet, despite being forced to deny their identities at the expense of personal happiness, they march on to become key players in the annals of history. Recalling the events of the French Revolution, Versailles no Bara depicts the struggles of two women unjustly burdened by family expectations. However, as the childish new queen foolishly abuses her power, Oscar is conflicted between maintaining her loyalty to the royal family and addressing the growing concern of poverty among the common people. Suffocated by the rigid rules associated with her new position and longing for companionship, Antoinette immediately takes a liking to this intriguing young woman, and wastes no time befriending her. The youngest daughter of a noble family with a prominent lack of a male heir, Oscar was raised as a boy to continue the family's military legacy. Upon arriving in Versailles, the Austrian princess meets Oscar Francois de Jarjayes, Captain of the Royal Guards-a seemingly dashing young man-but to Antoinette's astonishment, he is in fact a woman! But I want more.EditSynopsis Hoping to unite their countries with an alliance, The Empress of Austria arranges her daughter, the delightful yet spoiled Marie Antoinette, to marry the crown prince of France, Louis XVI. Hope they get an author page on this site too, since English is my only language and there’s not much English information about Wasp, I unfortunately haven’t been able to find more. Doesn’t matter if it’s furry lol I’ll read it all day. I hope I can experience more of his (?) work. I also can see so many possibilities for a second part, even a mini series.Īll in all, Wasp impressed me. The characters were so cute and endearing, it was funny and sexy and damn I loved the chemistry between the two characters. It comes with a few twists which I enjoyed.

The full colored Two Way is breathtaking. The art is excellent though and I liked the characters a lot. I shouldn’t feel turned on or horny after reading a rape, I - and I believe all readers - should be sad afterwards. If you’re going to have rape in your story, it shouldn’t be praised and tantalizing. It takes the hottness out of it, but I applaud that. I’ve probably never read a yaoi where the characters have a realistic reaction to being sexually assaulted.
It had a realistic look on the after-affects of rape. Things They Cannot Bring on Board and Two Way.įor Things, the art is stunning, it’s a deep story actually. Wasp has two stories out that have been translated. Let me just say I am NOT a fan of furry! Or at least I wasn’t before lol. Much, much too expensive, even for a mangaholic like me. The site I read it on separated the stories, and trying to buy the copies online (I want it ugh) it was 54 USD. I’ve only read two stories from this collection.
